THIS IS the BEST MECHANIC in CDA. I have used this auto shop for years and for numerous repairs both small and major. The Dealer Alternative is the best. I have used dozens of mechanics though out the country on several vehicles and they are by far the best I have ever dealt with. They are the expert's expert. I discovered The Dealer Alternative when a lesser local shop (who had ASE master techs) sneaked my vehicle to The Dealer Alternative when they couldn't figure out the problem with my engine. The different shop had my vehicle for over a month and couldn't figure it why my engine was running rough. Robert (at The Dealer Alternative) had the problem fixed in a single day and for a fraction of the cost quoted by the other guys. They are an expert's expert in auto repair. They are honest and guarantee the work. Another experience that has made me a loyal customer to The Dealer Alternative happened about a year ago. A friend offered a free oil change at a dealership here in CDA. The mechanic there, holding himself out as an expert in my car, came and told me that my clutch component was leaking and quoted a repair of hundreds of dollars. The mechanic pointed to the slight presence of oil on a cable as proof. I took it to The Dealer Alternative, and they correctly identified the problem as a seeping head gasket - they took their time time and thoroughly explained the logic of their diagnosis, guaranteed the repair, conducted the repair the next day, and their diagnosis was correct (no more oil on cable / there was never any loss of clutch fluid = confirmed diagnosis). They saved me money and from the incompetence and/or dishonesty of another shop. They are a value. A local tire shop was doing a "free tire rotation, alignment and whatnot" deal. I took my car there as I forever hunt for bargains. They tried to sell me repairs for front suspension and quoted me over $1,000. While the vehicle did need those repairs, The Dealer Alternative did it for less than half their quoted price. A honest value! They have excellent customer service. I was leaving town in an older rig to go camping in remote areas and was having a hard time putting the rig in reverse. I took it to The Dealer Alternative and they said the clutch was near death. I was scheduled to leave town in a day and couldn't postpone my trip. I told them when I had to leave town. Understanding my urgency, The Dealer Alternative worked feverishly and overtime to get the clutch and installed the same day and at a price less than what the other mechanics quoted me. Outstanding customer service I am loathe to review things online, as I am a very private person. However, this shop simply deserves recognition. You can't put a price on integrity - and The Dealer Alternative has this in addition to quality, knowledge and customer service. I recommend The Dealer Alternative wholeheartedly and without reservation. .
